Results from IPW "We Are At War" August 17, 2002
Florida WrestlePlex St Petersburg, FL
Opening Match:Special Ed and Mark Zout (dressed as Corky) beat Kryptonite and
Hunk Golden (from SPW in Sacramento) by pinfall. After the match, Zout and Ed
were attacked by Pete Cannon with Mark Gold. Cannon was upset that the "retards"
were booked and not him. Special Ed took quite a beating and may be out from
6-8 weeks. Early reports indicate a crushed larynx that will require Ed to take
extensive speech therapy.
Cruiserweight Match:"Mr. 630" Jerrelle Clark pinned Sacred Dragon
(also from SPW) in a fast paced match.
Tag Team Weirdness:The hot duo of Comic Book Guy Anderson and James Hendricks
beat the unusual team of Bolles Azulles and King Kong Rumble (with Austin Tacious
and D.R.). Throughout the match there was much dissention between Rumble and
Azulles that is sure to spill over into future shows. Rumble, as always, insisted
on being pinned with a five count ( FIIIIIVE).
Hair vs Hair vs Career Match:Richie Rich over Don Juan Desanto and Devin Nash
when Rich pinned Desanto. Commissioner Eddie Edwards, who was given the "chair
punch" a few weeks back by Devin, was your special referee. By virtue of
this loss, Desanto's career is now over, but more importantly, The Mullet and
GoldiLocks Nash still have their hair.
Hardcore Title:In a sick twisted hardcore match Prime Evil (with Deathrow Jethro
and Hardcore Princess) retained his title in a match with (This is...) CHAOS
(with Concession Boy). The aftermath saw total anarchy as the tacks came flying
out and Chaos cleared the ring of everyone with wicked chairshots (including
a turncoat Concession Boy).
Heavyweight Contenders Match:Pat McGroin (with Pat Powers) over Axis (with
Lennox) when Powers interfered. It looks like the bad blood is starting between
these four.
Finals of best of 3 series:Seijin Akki over Cynic after he dropped him on the
side of neck. These guys absolutely killed each other. The crowd ate it up,
from the Japanese style intros to the incredibly stiff suplex variations hit
by both wrestlers. Afterwards Justice and all the green boys helped both men
celebrate a great match in the ring and the two combatants are still buddies
after all that craziness.
Non Title Match:Todd Shane is out 4-6 weeks so The Vandals (FOW) did not get
a shot at the NWA FL tag titles, but Mike Shane and Ron Niemi had a big surprise
for them as Mikes partner...Horace Hogan. Shane and Hogan beat The Vandals by
pinfall in a hot little match.
Afterwards Ron Niemi cut a massive promo on Horace claiming that after Mike
Awesome carried him for years in Japan and since then Horace has been here living
off of his uncles name and that the only reason he got booked tonight is because
Vigril/Soul Train Jones/Vincent/Curly Bill was busy. This ended abruptly with
Horace giving Niemi one of the most wicked powerbombs of all time. Mike Shane
eventually ran Horace off, but Hogan vows to be back at the WrestlePlex to settle
the score with Shane and Niemi.
Florida Unified Cruiserweight Match:Naphtali retains over Justice with a BinoDriver
98 (schoolboy). Words cannot describe this match as both the in ring execution
and the psychology building from their last match were top notch. A definite
must see...even better than when Naph won the belt. Crowd was into both guys
and they did the "mutual respect" thing that seems to be so prevalent
in IPW's junior division.
IPW Tag Titles:The Strong Brothers (Roderick and Sedrick) retained by pinfall
over Scoot Andrews and Mike Sullivan (w the returning XTC, who was, shall we
say, enhanced). The Strongs used every dirty trick in the book to retain the
titles in this old school tag team encounter. Rest assured Sullivan and Andrews
will challenge for those belts again.
IPW Heavyweight Title:Agent Steele (with his Sexretary Tiffany) retains over
Billy Fives. The last time these two met there was tons of outside interference
and nothing was settled. This was a Lights Out match and both guys went right
at each other and Steele was able to finally show the world that he can indeed
beat Fives.
