BEZERKER:
began spinning
in 1989 with house and techno. In the early 90s, he spun everything
from UK hardcore/ breakbeat, to trance and electro breaks. In 1995, he
released his first 12" ep on Abduction Records, which was played
out by the likes of DJ Dan and Scott Henry. This record displayed his
wide range of tastes and influences with songs from trip hop to hardcore
and jungle. Over the years, the British breakbeat sound had been changing
and saw a split into jungle and happy hardcore. 1997 was when he first
truly discovered happy hardcore and fell instantly in love with it.
In the beginning of 1998, Bezerker had a residency at a weekly club night
in DC called Evolve. He decided to be listed on the flier for one of the
nights as spinning happy hardcore. But there was one problem: no happy
hardcore records!! He immediately began scouring the country to find somewhere
that sold them as none of the stores in the area had any. He found a store
in Toronto that Fed Exed him his first set of happy hardcore records,
and later that night, Bezerker gave his first happy hardcore performance!
Instantly, happy hardcore fans began popping up everywhere, a scene began
to develop in the DC area, and Bezerker started the "Ruffneck Playaz
Crew" to help organize and promote the style even further. Even the
largest and longest running drum & bass night, Urban Space, had him
play at their largest event called subUrban Space along with Dieselboy.
Buzz, the east coast's largest club night, asked him to enter their annual
dj battle as a way for them to "test the waters" with happy
hardcore. At the first round, the place completely exploded! People were
going nuts and were loving it. Everyone was coming up to him afterwards
saying "thank you" and hugging him. He had made it to the finals.
The night of the finals saw a very similar reaction with much of the attendance
having had come just for the happy hardcore. The competition ended with
Bezerker being a finalist and the first happy hardcore dj ever at Buzz.
In April of 1999, he played in North Carolina with Brisk, the largest
happy hardcore dj/producer in the world and owner of the biggest happy
hardcore label, Next Generation. Brisk was so impressed with Bezerker,
he asked him to do a special "tag-team" set with him. Later
that year, Bezerker released his first mix CD called "Up'n tha Ante".
It immediately received national acclaim and became very popular. Sales
still continue nationwide. Currently, Bezerker has been spending time
in the studio working on tracks and has plans of releasing more records
in the future. Bezerker is being represented by Bubble Crew and Heavenly
Stars, and is currently a resident DJ on the infamous Sessions1.com netshow,
and Seti TV!, and cable TV DJ program on the East Coast. Bezerker is sponsored
by Elavibe and Ravers Only! clothing companies.
Bezerker has shared deck time with: Joey Beltram, Brisk, Angel Alanis,
Bad Company, TechItch & Decoder, Keoki, Theo, Joshua Ryan, Scott and
Robbie Hardkiss, and Nigel Richards
